Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA) Board Director Lawrence Teh, Registrar Shi Yan, Business Development Manager Jane Hu Wenzhen with SCMA Panel Arbitrator Matthew Harvey KC visited Shanghai and Zhoushan city and participated in the International Maritime Law Conference for Free Trade Ports (FTZ) on October 16th.

The event was organised by the Zhoushan Free Trade Zone Administration and co-hosted by the China Maritime Arbitration Commission (CMAC) and the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration (SCMA), along with other local Chinese entities. SCMA board member Lawrence Teh and SCMA Panel Arbitrator Matthew Harvey delivered keynote speeches. Their insights provided new perspectives on the development of international maritime legal frameworks in Chinese free trade zones.

SCMA's Business Development Manager, Jane Hu Wenzhen, presented in a afternoon session on maritime dispute resolution in Singapore. The event was well-received and contributed valuable ideas for improving Zhoushan’s legal services environment.

During the visit to Shanghai, SCMA also held discussions with industry partners, including the China Shipowners Association, New Yangtze Group, China P&I, CU Line, TianTai Law Firm, and AnJie Broad Law Firm. Special thanks to SCMA corporate member Wintell & Co for organising a joint seminar with SCMA at their offices. Additionally, SCMA collaborated with SHIAC to host a joint seminar. Both events attracted a diverse audience of professionals and experts from the maritime and legal industries, leading to lively discussions and exchange of insights.
